[SOLVED] How does everybody create GIF images?

I’m looking for a tool that will create those gif image examples that everybody posts on these forums to demonstrate problems or features in Amory. I’m on Ubuntu 16.04 and was wondering if there was any program that was good for creating those quickly and easily.

I personally use ScreenToGIF: https://www.screentogif.com/

It lets you record gifs directly from your screen without the need to convert anything.

So is Peek what you’re still using @zicklag? How do you find it? I’m on Linux, too.

Yep I use Peek for short GIFs. If the recording is longer than something like 5-8 seconds ( I can’t remember for sure ), I think it intentionally lowers the frame rate drastically to keep the filesize reasonable.

For longer screencast GIFs, for Linux I think the best option is to use something like OBS Studio to record it and then something like gifify to convert it to a GIF. Sounds like that’s what you were doing already.
