You might still want to try it out. My brother is doing a pure logic node asteroids game that has 2D physics with the potential for 3D graphics. It is working well so far. I think the issue that @MagicLord is having might be more of a special case and you could probably get away with a lot without running into the issue. Also you might be able to work around it by setting the Z rotation to 0 on update.
